This book was a light read with enough suspense to keep you hooked to the end which thankfully wasn’t a typical hollywood ending. The entire book is like an action-adventure matinée. It isn’t a memorable book you will discuss at your book club but it’ll keep you satisfied while you read it.

The book is inspired by the loss of the american submarine USS Scorpion SSN 589 in 1968. In the book we follow a fictive american submarine USS Barracuda SSN 593 as it leaves on a routine assignment that turns out to be anything but routine. There are similarities with the Hunt for red October but then there are probably similarities to just about any book or movie where the story transpires on a submarine.

If you a re looking for some heavy cultural pretentious litterature this book isn’t for you but if you want some light reading on your vacation or while commuting this book might be up your alley.
